The Modular Unit Operations Controller (UOC) offers advanced DCS capabilities in a compact, flexible form. It integrates into small plants while maintaining high performance and reliability. The ControlEdge UOC includes Fault Tolerant Ethernet, ModbusTCP, and EtherNet/IP, and is ISASecure Level 2 certified for secure connections to smart motors, drives, and PLCs.

The UOC and Virtual UOC extend the Experion control environment while minimizing space requirements. This system consolidates firewall, controller, and Ethernet I/O communications into a single module, enabling ring I/O topologies that eliminate the need for additional switches.
Configured applications can be tested and validated in the cloud or locally using the Virtual UOC, then seamlessly transferred to a physical UOC without reassignment or revalidation. The Virtual UOC also reduces hardware dependency when a physical controller isn’t required while enhancing system availability through fault-tolerant virtualization technology.
To ensure maximum uptime, the UOC supports same-rack or rack-to-rack controller redundancy, allowing redundancy to be added on the fly—whether permanently or temporarily for firmware upgrades without disrupting operations.
